Optavia Weight Loss Program – My Review of Day 4

Here we go! I have made THREE whole days on the Optavia Weight Loss Program!

I am here to tell you my thoughts, struggles, and successes surrounding this program as I enter Day 4.

I initially had the intentions of doing weekly updates, but if you have been following my story you are aware that I am long-winded. (To start at the beginning of my journey and Days 1, 2, & 3 please click HERE!) I am going to work, going forward, on leaving out insignificant details and keeping it real and basic! ((:

So… here it goes… day 4 summarized here!

DAYS 1, 2 &3 QUICK RECAPS – Lessons Learned

I like to begin by a quick review of what I took forward from my previous days (days 1-3) on the Optimal Weight 5 & 1 Program.

  1. Start each day with the open mindset of taking one day at a time.
  2. BE PREPARED at all times! Keep an extra fueling with you.
  3. ALWAYS carry your water with you!
  4. Eat the applicable “fuelings” with a trusty baby spoon (it REALLY does make a difference).
  5. Keep your mind open to all fuelings and don’t make your decisions on fuelings based on others’ opinions.
  6. The healthy snack option is your friend.
  7. The Lean & Green Meal is a HUGE portion of food. This makes me HAPPY!
  8. I like to save my Lean & Green for my 5th “eating”.
  9. When feeling low, turn to the Optavia community for motivation and mental support.

Fueling Thoughts Thus Far:

  1. The Vanilla shake reminds me of a McDonald’s vanilla shake. So good!
  2. The Chocolate shake is so rich and filling. Love it!
  3. The Frosted Cookie Dough Bar is delicious but a very small portion.
  4. I do like the Drizzled Berry Crisp Bar for a nice fruity and sweet snack but it, like the other bars, is still very small.
  5. The Creamy Double Peanut Butter Crisp Bar definitely hits a peanut butter craving and is more filling than some of the other bars, but is very messy.
  6. The smoky BBQ crunchers taste awful to me at this point in my journey but definitely aid my water intake.
  7. The Cinnamon Crunchy O’s are a terrific snack that takes a while to consume.
  8. I love the Roasted Garlic Creamy Smashed Potatoes.
  9. The Decadent Chocolate Brownie is to die for and really appeases that sweet tooth craving.
  10. The Mac n Cheese is a disappointment as I haven’t mastered a way to get the noodles soft.

I woke up on Day 4 of the Optavia Weight Loss Program down an additional 2 pounds for a total of 6.8 pounds! This is 6.8 POUNDS IN THREE DAYS! I did step on the scales once again to ensure what I read was correct! It was! I was 1000% ready for Day 4!

DAY 4 – Things are Looking Up in My Snow-Ridden Town

It is now a Wednesday as I started this journey on a Sunday.

We still have snow and ice and everything continues to be closed (so I have yet to experience this program with my work schedule integrated into it) although some thawing is supposed to occur today.

The great news… we DO have electricity today (kudos to the awesome linemen)!

I am curious about the “fat burn” that I have been hearing so much about on this plan and believe that I should be getting close as they say that this process begins occurring between days 4-6.

FUELING 1 – I See a Pattern Beginning to Form

I consumed Fueling 1 at about 7:30am.

I went with the vanilla shake which I LOVE and chugged some water! (Remember I had said that it tasted like a McDonald’s vanilla shake initially? It STILL does!)

I am beginning to see a ritual here… I I started the shakes for my first fueling of the day.

FUELING 2 – Trying Something New

Around 10am I started thinking about Fueling 2. My hubbie was preparing spaghetti for the family and I could NOT seem to get pasta off of my mind.

I felt as though I needed a more hearty option to suffice the “real food” craving that I was starting to experience. I went to my pantry and found the Rustic Tomato Herb Penne staring me in the face! That was it!

At 10:15 on the dot I prepared this fueling for the first time, as directed, utilizing water & the microwave.

Ya’ll… this was so YUMMY and filling! It really tastes like pasta!

I immediately KNEW that this would be a staple fueling in the future along my journey.

FUELING 3 – You Can Have Pasta Twice in One Day

With spaghetti still going strong in my household, I had no doubt what my third fueling would be… the Rustic Tomato Herb Penne AGAIN and I was looking so forward to it.

This is one of my FAVORITE things about the Optavia Weight Loss Program.

Laundry and cleaning kept me busy as I watched the clock and counted down the time to devour this tasty treat.

I enjoyed EVERY SINGLE BITE beginning at 1pm. I savored it (of course with my baby spoon) and made it last as long as I possibly could! Again… it did NOT disappoint.

SNACK – So Thankful that Snacks are an Option

Being nestled in the house all day with the whole family and hearing of pipes beginning to burst as some thawing was beginning to occur, I began learning more and more about myself and my habits.

I am an emotional eater. When I feel stressed, I want to eat. When I am nervous, I want to eat.

Guess what?

At around 2:30pm, I just wanted to eat!

I immediately turned to the Optavia Community (reading ALL the success stories of the thousands on the Optavia Weight Loss Program) and faithfully consumed my water, but I STILL wanted food in my mouth.

I had a choice to make. Once again, a battle existed in my mind.

The excuses to break plan and enjoy “ALL THE THINGS” were rampant.

What did I do?

I remembered WHY I began this program. I reminded myself that I was truly invested (financially) and that I would NOT let this be like all the other times in my life when I had failed.

Two pickle spears (and water, of course) came to my rescue. I munched on those two spears for literally thirty minutes. I was in this!

FUELING 4 – Smashed Potatoes Anyone?

I made it until 4pm via the aid of my pickle spears and the Optavia community and it was now time for my fourth fueling of my day!

The Roasted Garlic Creamy Smashed Potatoes was my fueling of choice. With a quick preparation as per the directions, utilizing solely water and a microwave, I knew that this was a fabulous choice and they were just as tasty as before.

I have to say that with all the fuelings thus far, preparation is easy and quick!

Time for family game time!

The LEAN & GREEN – My Absolute Favorite Time of Day

By 5pm I was HANGRY!

My mind was all over the place.

How is this even fair?

I watch my family devour tons of comfort foods throughout this challenging time of snow, ice and being trapped indoors and I feel as though I am STARVING!

I knew that I needed to turn to my fabulous coach.

She reminded me that this is only temporary and that I am CHOOSING to do this in order to reach goals that I REALLY wanted to reach. I can go off-plan if I would like, but it would create a detour in the ultimate path of healthiness.

Likely, these feelings that I am experiencing are due to an unhealthy relationship with food. I am not ACTUALLY starving. My body has what it needs. She said to stick with it and it WILL get better.

I was also reminded that I should be digging into my Lifebook that I received with my first order. I looked at it… still sitting there untouched… it just appeared overwhelming.

I wasn’t happy, but the words that she said resonated with me. I did NOT want to fail.

At about 5:30pm, I decided it was time to begin my Lean & Green preparation. What should I have?

Due to the fact that I have yet to be able to get to the store to adequately prepare, again… my choices were limited.

The hubbie offered to grill some frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts on the grill outside in the freezing cold, so I took him up on it! That would be my lean!

I also found a bag of frozen broccoli in my freezer. Chicken and broccoli it is!

You can find this recipe as well as many others by clicking HERE!

Everything was ready to eat by 6pm and while I normally wouldn’t be SO excited about the consumption of chicken and broccoli, I have to say that it definitely hit the spot and was extremely filling.

FUELING 5 – Brownie for the Nightcap

At around 8pm-ish, I gave in and mixed my go-to brownie batter fueling!

This is one of the fuelings that I look most forward to as it really suffices my sweet tooth and in no way, shape or form makes me feel as though I am restricting myself.

I decided to take a hot bath, drink my final few ounces of water, and enjoy another early bed time… sleep is critical for the body as well. In addition, I knew that if I just went to sleep then I wouldn’t take a chance of my mind playing games with me!

Day 4 Final Thoughts

As my head hit my pillow, I had a multitude of thoughts flowing through my brain.

Am I entering fat burn? Will tomorrow be the day that I hear everyone ranting and raving about? I should be getting close!

Would this get easier? I had heard that it would and am sure hoping that this is factual.

This is not easy, but I had my usual sense of accomplishment for the day as I had done it! One more day down.

Visions of a healthy version of me entered my head (wearing cute clothes too)… I wanted to reach out and grab that girl that I envisioned! I am on my way sister!

Of course, I don’t like to end without touching on my results for the previous day! I awoke on Day 5 of the Optavia Weight Loss Program to 0.5 more pounds gone! This makes a total of 7.3 pounds lost forever in FOUR DAYS!
