Here we are folks! I simply cannot believe that I have made it two FULL weeks on the Optavia Diet Plan.
Results? I will get to that, but…
If you are just joining my site and want a detailed picture of exactly how these first two weeks went down, please click HERE to start at the beginning of my weight loss journey!
I will say that at this point, I am feeling fabulous! If you are serious about REALLY losing weight, so far my accomplishments have well-exceeded my expectations.
Remember… I had tried literally EVERYTHING (surgery included) prior to going all-in with the Optavia Diet Plan.
There have been PLENTY of struggles surrounding my first two weeks and I am anxious to update you about week 3; but, the way that I look at it is that I had PLENTY of struggles (of a different nature) prior to beginning this program.
I have said it before and I will say it again, it is HARD to lose weight; but, it is also HARD to be obese (both physically and mentally). CHOOSE YOUR HARD.
The Optimal Weight 5 & 1 Plan that I have been partaking in is by far the easiest weight loss tactic for me to-date. It is essentially spelled out in black and white for you and the only variant is YOU!
Let’s get to it!

Week 2 Quick Recaps – Lessons Learned
I always review small lessons that I have learned from my time thus far on the Optavia Diet Plan in the hopes that it will help ANYONE on their journey! Here is what I have taken away from my first two weeks.
- Start each day with the open mindset of taking one day at a time.
- BE PREPARED at all times! Keep an extra fueling with you.
- ALWAYS carry your water with you!
- Eat the applicable “fuelings” with a trusty baby spoon (it REALLY does make a difference).
- Keep your mind open to all fuelings and don’t make your decisions on fuelings based on others’ opinions.
- The healthy snack option is your friend.
- The Lean & Green Meal is a HUGE portion of food. This makes me HAPPY!
- I like to save my Lean & Green for my 5th “eating”.
- When feeling low, turn to the Optavia community for motivation and mental support.
- Keeping busy definitely aids with the mental hunger component.
- “Fat Burn” makes you feel AMAZING… like you are on top of the world.
- There is something called a “WHOOSH” which means the scales may not move daily, but they WILL move!
Can We Say Energy? – Fat Burn is a Real Thing
One of the main things that I have noticed in week 3 on the Optavia Diet Plan is the exceptional ENERGY!
It is very difficult to put it into words, but I will do my best.
Have you ever had the experience of waking up BEFORE your alarm clock and instead of wanting to hit “snooze” you are ready to jump up and get your day started?
This would happen once in a blue moon for me prior to starting this program, but WOW… this is becoming a common thing now!
Within the Optavia community, I read many discussions regarding what they term fat burn. I can now say that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I am finally experiencing this firsthand and I LOVE IT!
Understanding the physiological component of fat burn can be difficult, but I will do my best to simplify it here.
Basically, it involves what your body uses for fuel to survive the day. Our bodies have free-flowing carbohydrates, stored carbohydrates, and stored fats that it utilizes for energy… typically in that order.
The Optavia Diet Plan is scientifically structured (nutritionally) to gently place your body in a fat-burning state. This means that if you stay on-program 100%, both the free-flowing carbohydrates and the stored carbohydrates are depleted and your body can fuel itself with stored fat!
What does all of this jibber-jabber mean?
This means that your body will achieve faster weight loss than normal while retaining your lean muscle mass.
They say that the side effects of fat burn can include the following:
- weight loss
- decreased hunger & cravings
- increased mental clarity
- increased energy
- elevated level of deep sleep
- increased feeling of being cold.
Now… who doesn’t want some fat burn?
This week I have DEFINITELY noticed ALL OF THE ABOVE! I AM IN FAT BURN and I LOVE IT (except for the coldness, of course)!
My Work Week – Routine, Routine, Routine
This week’s work schedule was a little different from last week.
If you recall, I am a traveling podiatrist. I worked Monday through Thursday in my “physician role”. While I did encounter some very long days (14 hour days including travel), I was able to be home and sleep in my own bed each night.
I kept the same routine as the prior week with the exception that my Lean & Green meal could be a little more creative. To see some of my favorite recipes, click HERE!
Here is that schedule just in case you missed my story last week.
- 7:00am – Shake on drive to facility
- 10:00am – Bar
- 1:00pm – Bar
- 4:00pm – Bar
- 7:00pm – Lean & Green Meal
- 9:30-ish – Brownie Batter Fueling
The hours were a little different, and one day I had to consume another bar at 7pm due to not being home yet and then my Lean & Green at around 9pm, but you get the jest!
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we were at the stand ALL DAY. If you have NO clue what I am talking about, you can either start at the beginning of my journey HERE or just understand that we also run a food truck on Fridays-Sundays.
Basically, on food truck days I can be a little more creative with my fuelings due to having access to a microwave… but my schedule remains about the same.
New Fueling Alerts – Strawberry Shake & Thin Mints
I incorporated two new fuelings in this week and I am here to tell you my thoughts on them.
Essential Wild Strawberry Shake
Shakes are EASY! I like to have one every single morning for my “breakfast”.
This week I added in the Essential Wild Strawberry Shake.
It was a great addition and definitely hit the spot for a nice, cold fruity start to my morning; however, I do believe that this is one that will be a sporadic addition and definitely not a daily habit.
Don’t get me wrong, it was yummy and a nice change, but I could totally see myself burning out on it if I had it every single day.
Essential Chocolate Mint Cookie Crisp Bar
Ya’ll… can we say Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie?
This is EXACTLY what the Chocolate Mint Cookie Crisp Bar tasted like to me!
Hands down, this bar right here is DELICIOUS. It has the perfect amount of crunch with plenty of chocolate with a hint of mint.
Why did I wait so long to try this? It is definitely up there as one of my top favorites!
Fueling Thoughts Thus Far
- The Vanilla shake reminds me of a McDonald’s vanilla shake. So good!
- The Chocolate shake is so rich and filling. Love it!
- The Wild Strawberry Shake is great to have on occasion for a change up.
- The Frosted Cookie Dough Bar is delicious but a very small portion.
- I do like the Drizzled Berry Crisp Bar for a nice fruity and sweet snack but it, like the other bars, is still very small.
- The Creamy Double Peanut Butter Crisp Bar definitely hits a peanut butter craving and is more filling than some of the other bars, but is very messy.
- I love the Chocolate Mint Cookie Crisp Bar as it reminds me of a Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie.
- The smoky BBQ crunchers taste awful to me at this point in my journey but definitely aid my water intake.
- The Cinnamon Crunchy O’s are a terrific snack that takes a while to consume.
- Zesty Cheddar & Italian Herb Crunchers are NOT my thing, but did contribute to a significant amount of water consumption.
- I love the Roasted Garlic Creamy Smashed Potatoes.
- The Decadent Chocolate Brownie is to die for and really appeases that sweet tooth craving.
- The Mac n’ Cheese is a disappointment as I haven’t mastered a way to get the noodles soft.
Week 3 Results on the Optavia Diet Plan – I Will Definitely Take It!
Week 3 seemed SO easy as compared to the two prior weeks and I truly feel this was largely due to finally getting in an amazing state of fat burn.
I cannot say enough about how awesome this fat burn thing is when you get deep into it. I was sleeping like a baby, had an extra-ordinary amount of energy, and just over-all felt this keen sense of positivity and happiness. It is still so hard to describe on paper… you just have to experience it!
I had been told that after the first week or two on the Optavia Diet Plan that weight loss may slow a little due to the large portion of initial loss being water weight and that was the case this week.
I lost a total of 2 pounds on week 3 which brings my total to a loss of 13.4 pounds. That is STILL 13.4 pounds in three weeks.
More importantly… I am feeling AMAZING. My scrubs are fitting looser and I just feel better.
I am SO glad that I made the decision to say “YES” to this new transformation and I look so forward to what next week will bring.
As always, thank you for continuing to read all about my journey; as usual, my goal here is to be real, transparent and vulnerable. I want to aid YOU in the navigation of your own journey!
I am ALWAYS here to help you become a better version of yourself too. If you have any questions or observations, please feel free to leave them in the comments below and I WILL do my best to fully clarify and answer your commentaries.
