Lose Weight Fast – My 2nd Week Story

Well folks, I survived my first full week on the Optavia Weight Loss Program!

My goal was to lose weight fast and find the skinny me hidden in this fat body of mine and I feel as though I am definitely on the right path… at least thus far.

I am here to provide you with as much detail as possible of what week 2 looked like for me and what it may look like for you too!

If you missed the struggles and celebrations of my first full week, please click HERE to start at the beginning of this newfound journey that I am on.

I woke up on Day 8 of the Optavia Weight Loss Program down a total of 6.4 pounds for my first full week on plan.

Now let’s talk about week 2. Sit tight and put your reading glasses on… here we go!

Week 1 Quick Recaps – Lessons Learned

I would like to begin by a quick review of what I took forward from my first full week on the Optimal Weight 5 & 1 Program.

  1. Start each day with the open mindset of taking one day at a time.
  2. BE PREPARED at all times! Keep an extra fueling with you.
  3. ALWAYS carry your water with you!
  4. Eat the applicable “fuelings” with a trusty baby spoon (it REALLY does make a difference).
  5. Keep your mind open to all fuelings and don’t make your decisions on fuelings based on others’ opinions.
  6. The healthy snack option is your friend.
  7. The Lean & Green Meal is a HUGE portion of food. This makes me HAPPY!
  8. I like to save my Lean & Green for my 5th “eating”.
  9. When feeling low, turn to the Optavia community for motivation and mental support.
  10. Keeping busy definitely aids with the mental hunger component.
  11. “Fat Burn” makes you feel AMAZING… like you are on top of the world.

Work Travel – How Will This Work?

My second week presented with some new challenges. The first of which involved my “real” full time job.

If you recall, last week we faced snowmageddon here in my little Texas town which NEVER happens here. Traveling for work was NOT an option and we were stuck at home almost all week.

The weather was cleared and I faced a three night stay away from work treating patients in long-term care facilities all over the great state of Texas.

How would this work? How would I manage my fuelings with no access to a microwave?

I had to prepare!

The night before I left I got 4 large baggies out and labeled them Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

I placed a shake fueling in each one for the mornings… I could drink them on my drive from my hotel room to the facility.

In addition, each bag contained 3 bars. These would be easy and convenient to down between patients and would not require any type of preparation.

Lastly, of course, I placed a brownie packet with disposable bowls on the counter for my last fueling of the day. What a treat to have in the hotel room before I snoozed away for the evenings.

I also grabbed some crunchers for the road trip just in case the timing hit right and I was in the car at fueling time. These included the Cinnamon Crunchy O’s and a new one… Zesty Cheddar & Italian Herb. These would be perfect for the downtime driving.

My handy, dandy water jug was a given, but now I just needed to figure out what I could do for my daily lean & green meal.

I knew that my hotel room would have a microwave and I paced around in the pantry… canned green beans and canned chicken it was! Easy peasy! I knew this was not the most creative meal, but I also remembered that I wanted to lose weight fast and I wasn’t going to let anything get in my way!

In addition, I wouldn’t have scales to weigh every morning, but with my stall the last few days this may be EXACTLY what I needed.

My Typical Work Day – Schedule is EVERYTHING!

I quickly developed a routine this week while at work. Here is how it worked.

I set my phone alarm for every 2 hours and 45 minutes just so I wouldn’t forget to fuel my body on time.

  • 7:00am – Shake on drive to facility
  • 10:00am – Bar
  • 1:00pm – Bar
  • 4:00pm – Bar
  • 7:00pm – Canned Chicken & Green Beans
  • 9:30-ish – Brownie Batter Fueling

Every time I consumed a fueling, I downed as much water as I could.

This wasn’t so bad at all. I noticed while working, I never really experienced the feeling of hunger because I stayed busy. By around 7pm, I was hungry but it was time to actually eat.

I didn’t have to think about food while away from home. The speculation of which fast food chain to hit up on my way to the hotel was no longer existent.

I found that while traveling for work, this was a super easy plan to follow AND hopefully when I returned home I would see a jump on those scales.

I can do this!

New Fueling – Zesty Cheddar & Italian Herb Crunchers

So there were a few times while driving when fueling time hit and I did venture out once and opened the bag of the Zesty Cheddar & Italian Herb Crunchers.

Let me just say… at this point in my journey, these are NOT my cup of tea.

I did continually remind myself that I am doing this to lose weight fast and, therefore, managed to get them down. There were NO issues getting a LOT of my water in for the day in doing so. They were crunchy but seemed VERY dry and lacked flavor.

I will do as they say and put them back for a while and try again at a later date.

You Can Eat Fancy and Still Lose Weight Fast

The remainder of the week was pretty uneventful.

I returned home and it was time to run the crawfish stand. We sold out early one evening and I got creative.

By now the hubbie knows what a lean and green meal consists of and wanted to treat me to a fabulous meal (remember I told you that he LOVES to cook… he REALLY does).

He stopped at the grocery store on his way home and prepared the most DELICIOUS lean and green meal that I have had thus far. I am terming it the Fancy Filet Mignon Dish! The recipe can be found by clicking HERE.

I devoured every single bite… just as you are supposed to!

Fueling Thoughts Thus Far

  • The Vanilla shake reminds me of a McDonald’s vanilla shake. So good!
  • The Chocolate shake is so rich and filling. Love it!
  • The Frosted Cookie Dough Bar is delicious but a very small portion.
  • I do like the Drizzled Berry Crisp Bar for a nice fruity and sweet snack but it, like the other bars, is still very small.
  • The Creamy Double Peanut Butter Crisp Bar definitely hits a peanut butter craving and is more filling than some of the other bars, but is very messy.
  • The smoky BBQ crunchers taste awful to me at this point in my journey but definitely aid my water intake.
  • The Cinnamon Crunchy O’s are a terrific snack that takes a while to consume.
  • Zesty Cheddar & Italian Herb Crunchers are NOT my thing, but did contribute to a significant amount of water consumption.
  • I love the Roasted Garlic Creamy Smashed Potatoes.
  • The Decadent Chocolate Brownie is to die for and really appeases that sweet tooth craving.
  • The Mac n’ Cheese is a disappointment as I haven’t mastered a way to get the noodles soft.

Week 2 Results – My Scales Moved!

Ya’ll… the “Whoosh” that I mentioned last week really did happen! There REALLY is such a thing.

At my two week weigh-in I was down an additional 5 pounds for a total of 11.4 pounds.

I was definitely not down any sizes in clothing yet, but there was no doubt that my clothes did appear to fit MUCH better than they did two weeks ago.

I was on my way and felt I had finally discovered how to lose weight fast! I WILL continue and I WILL be successful in reaching a better version of myself!
